Plan A is a game that was created for the Sex Positive Game Jam at NYU in the Fall of 2017. The game explores healthy types of contraceptives, their benefits, and their side-effects.
The player controls both a "shield" and a "gun" that surround a stationary orb in the middle of the screen, which represents the egg. Players then must shoot down the sperm closing in on them, thus effecting as birth control. The player can move the shield and gun in a circular motion around the orb with the A/D keys for the shield, and the Left and Right arrow keys for the gun. The player chooses a method of contraceptive before playing, and depending on their choice, different stats will be boosted, such as speed or health. This is meant to educate the player on the benefits of each method of contraceptive.
Every once in a while, the player will experience a "side-effect", such as depression or anxiety, that can either slow the player down, or reverse the controls of the shield and gun. This is meant to educate the player on potential side-effects of the contraceptive that they selected.
Plan A was developed in C# in Unity2D. Elliot and I designed the game, and Elliot programmed core gameplay and menu. I programmed the side-effect phases and made the art for the game.
